Total Place and Pathfinder

As Total Place develops, it is certain that some kind of real step change to joint working will be key if tangible improvements are to be delivered. What seems particularly strange is how the various Pathfinder projects have failed to morph into Total Place initiatives, which would seem to be a completely straightforward and logical development.

In both streams of work there are dangers that nettles are not being grasped and that there is a tendency to avoid addressing macro-financial issues. It will be key to get a grip on these and to develop a means to arrive at a firm five-year budget approach if they are to be able to weather the public sector finance hit that is to come.
